Song of the Week: Soundgarden - 'Been Away Too Long'

It's been way too long... No really it has.  At last, Soundgarden are back with new single 'Been Away Too Long' and are coming with a brand spanking new album King Animal this Autumn.  The response for the new track is divided, much like Marmite, it's either loved or hated, but to be frank, I love it.  Because Soundgarden were a grunge band in the 90's, people still try to hold onto hope that that hope that grunge will be back.  Hate to break it to fellow, delusional grunge lovers, it won't be back, ever.  But, Soundgarden are still here, and that's as good as it gets.  Take a listen to 'Been Way Too Long' below and decide your verdict.

Song of the Week: The Dead Weather - 'Bone House'

If you don't already know, I am a huge Jack White fan; and I love everything he does, particularly his work with The Dead Weather, alongside another all time favourite Alison Mosshart.  I can never get enough of The Dead Weather because it's like a collision of The White Stripes and The Kills but Alison is more feisty and fiery than ever!  'Bone House' is taken from the album Horehound which I could not recommend enough. The Dead Weather have had two albums, the latter and Sea of Cowards.  If you do not like or have not yet discovered The Dead Weather, I hope to have changed your mind completely. Enjoy!

Song of the Week: Smashing Pumpkins - 'The Celestials'

So I'm finally back! College starts next week, new site starts next week or soon after. On the ball! Lately I've been listening to a lot of  Smashing Pumpkins because this year they came back and brought their A Game with their new album Oceania - the album deemed to be album of the year.  The first single from the album, 'The Celestials' is certainly a worthy choice of reigniting the love old Pumpkins fans once had, prior to their unloved album Zeitgeist.  I've reviewed this album and all the good things I've said is no word of a lie.  This album is outstanding.  Usually, I would love 4-6 songs from a 12 track album, but this, I genuinely love them all.  Billy and crew sure know how to make a comeback.  We welcome you with open arms, Smashing Pumpkins.
